Implants for one or more missing teeth

Implants can support a crown, bridge, or denture. A consultation helps determine whether they are appropriate for you and what other approaches are possible.

Plan around the whole person

Ask about the stages of treatment, healing, maintenance, costs, and who will be involved in each step.

What records may be needed?

The team may review the condition of nearby teeth and gums, bite, bone, and medical history. Imaging can help determine whether an implant is feasible and how the final tooth should be designed.

Who handles surgery and restoration?

Some implant plans involve more than one clinician. Ask who will place the implant, who will design the crown or denture, and how the team will coordinate care.

What happens after treatment?

Implants still need daily cleaning and follow-up. Your maintenance plan may include hygiene visits, monitoring of the surrounding tissues, and checks of the restoration.

Guide overview

A dental implant can support a replacement tooth, bridge, or denture. Suitability depends on oral health, supporting bone, medical history, restorative space, and the complete plan.

Compare the paths

Implant restoration

May avoid using neighboring teeth for support, but involves surgery, healing, maintenance, and case-specific risk.

Tooth-supported bridge

Can replace a tooth without implant surgery, but uses neighboring teeth for support.

Removable option

May replace one or more teeth with a removable appliance and has different comfort and maintenance considerations.

How planning unfolds

  1. 01

    Listen and examine

Begin with your concerns, goals, health history, examination, and the records needed to understand the problem.

  2. 02

    Compare options

Review reasonable alternatives, their tradeoffs, maintenance needs, and which clinicians would be involved.

  3. 03

    Plan the sequence

Agree on priorities and the order of care before treatment begins. Timing is individual and is confirmed only after evaluation.

  4. 04

    Review and maintain

The final stage includes checking function and appearance and discussing home care and professional follow-up.

The clinician’s role

Dr. Pooya’s prosthodontic role is to evaluate the restorative result, explain reasonable choices, and coordinate the agreed plan. The team will let you know who performs each surgical or specialty stage of your care.

What shapes cost

  • Number and type of restorations
  • Diagnostic records and planning needs
  • Laboratory and material choices
  • Whether other clinicians or preparatory care are needed
  • Insurance benefits and financing arrangements

Questions to bring

Am I a candidate for an implant?

That requires an examination and review of oral health, bone, medical history, medications, and restorative needs.

Who performs the surgery?

Ask the office to identify the clinician responsible for each stage of your proposed plan.

How long will treatment take?

Timing varies with the condition being treated, healing, and the chosen restoration. It is confirmed after evaluation.

Before deciding

The office will confirm the treating clinician and any specialist referrals for your individual plan.
